During the production of this history we have used many sources of generally available information and we freely and gratefully acknowledge these sources and the help we have been given.

As a member of Invicta Chapter 709, I (DS) was already aware of Earl Amherst, as one of our members, Wbro John Freeston, together with the Scribe and others, produced an excellent history of the Chapter which included a great deal of information on Earl Amherst.
